Youth TAGS is a friendly and supportive group for LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Questioning) young people between 11 - 16 years old. We can offer a safe, supportive and anonymous meeting space for:
- Meeting other LGBT young people and groups
- Exploring your identity and coming out
- Work out Family and relationship problems
- Challenge homophobic bullying at school and work
- Gain sexual and mental health advice
Youth TAGS is made up of a team of youth support workers, volunteers and peer workers who offer confidential one-to-one and group sessions which give young people the opportunity to talk to others who are in the same situation, share experiences and receive/offer support.
Activities and projects
Youth TAGS offers activities such as topical discussions, quizzes, arts, crafts, residentials, games, sports and meeting other LGBT groups. We take part in events such as Manchester and Warrington Pride, World Aids Day, LGBT history month and we also have access to a library of LGBT books, magazines, DVD’s and videos.
Our sessions are usually held on a Wednesday evening in a town centre location so that young people can visit us safely and be themselves. We can arrange to meet you, have a chat, explain the ground rules and introduce you to the group. Parents, carers, teachers, youth workers or friends can contact us on behalf of a young person if they prefer.
Support for parents and carers
Youth TAGS also offers support to parents and carers of young gay people. Professionals, organisations or agencies can also contact us for support and advice.
Working with other LGBT groups
