Harpers Green - Extra Care Housing Scheme

NEW EXTRA CARE SCHEME IN WARRINGTON

Harpers Green is a new 97-unit Extra Care Housing Scheme on Harpers Road.  It is a priority to identify people with sufficient personal care and support needs to move into units.  This is an opportunity for people to move into DDA compliant accommodation where they will be able to remain independent with care and support on site.

Harpers Green

The landlord is Torus.  The development is on Harpers Road, Padgate.   Extra Care Care and Support is delivered on site by a 24-hour staff team of Making Space and Torus.

Harpers Green comprises of:

  • A 4 Storey building
  • 97 units, 32 of which will be one-bed and 65 two-bed units.
  • 48 units for rent, 49 units for shared ownership.
  • 42 Car Parking Spaces, bistro, hair salon, lounge, laundry.

The scheme is generally aimed at individuals who are aged over 55, but younger clients, or those with a learning disability or mental health condition may be eligible (considered on a case-by-case basis).

Personal care will be available on site, but nursing needs will be met by the district nursing service.

Residents live in their own flats including kitchen and bathroom, and have access to the communal areas and to the in site care and support.  The latter includes use of an emergency alarm for events such as falls.  As a minimum, daily wellbeing checks will be made for all residents.

A bowling green forms part of the current site and this will remain as an amenity within the development.  Communal amenities (Salon and Bistro Cafe) will be available for use by the local community.

Making Space will have suitably experienced and qualified care staff to carry out a Trusted Assessor role and assess for such items as, grab rails, raised toilet seats, non mechanical bathing aides, etc. Making Space will be given support by the Council’s Occupational Therapy service.

Questions for all health and social care referrers:

  •  Are there any clients whose care and support needs cannot be met in their current home?
  • Are there any clients with ongoing high-cost domiciliary care needs who would benefit from moving into an Extra Care scheme?
  • Are there any clients waiting for an ongoing high-cost domiciliary care package who would benefit from moving into an Extra Care scheme?
  • Are there any residents in sheltered housing who may need a higher level of support and/or care on site?
  • Are there any clients in residential homes who would benefit from the greater independence of an Extra Care scheme?

REFERRAL AND APPLICATION ROUTE

Via Torus’ Under One Roof online system: www.u-1-r.co.uk
