Notes

Our vision is to empower young people with special educational needs and disabilities, through the delivery of practical and skill-based programmes that will enable them to participate fully in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals.

We aim to create a familiar, supportive and local environment which will further the lives of young people with SEND through high quality, bespoke development programmes based on their individual needs.

Our team of specialised educators and support officers provide education, personal care and medical support enabling students to undertake a personalised Study Programme.  We offer expertise in meeting the needs of students with:

  • Severe learning difficulty (SLD).

  • Profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

  • Multiple sensory impairment (MSI).

  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

  • Complex learning  difficulty  (e.g. a Student with a borderline moderate learning difficulty made more complex by an additional mental health / social / emotional / behavioural difficulty).

We are proud to be a fully inclusive college and this is demonstrated by:

  • Valuing all students and staff equally

  • Enabling our students to participate in the cultures of the local community and beyond

  • Ensuring that the cultures, policies and practices in college reflect the diversity of all our students

  • Reducing barriers to learning for all students

  • Striving to continually improve our college for staff members as well as for our students

  • Emphasising the role of our college in contributing to the community and developing values, as well as in increasing achievement

  • Our recognition that inclusion in education is one aspect of inclusion in the whole of society
