What is a Children's Centre

Have you seen what is happening in your local children’s centre?

Children’s centres are friendly, welcoming places where mums, dads, carers and their children under five feel comfortable, respected and valued as individuals.

Everyone is welcome; come along, make new friends and access a range of activities and services for you and your child including:

Baby and toddler activities

Drop-in play sessions

Young parents’ groups

Positive parenting support

Information about local childcare

Access to midwives and health visitors

Speech and language sessions

Support for families with children with additional needs

Ante-natal and Post-natal advice and support

A range of adult learning courses with a crèche available

What’s next?

1. Drop in or telephone your local centre

2. Complete a simple Registration Form

3. Return the Registration Form to the centre

4. A Children’s Centre member of staff will then explain the services, activities and groups that are available, and give you a programme

5. Choose the activities that you and your child would like to do

You can also contact the Families Information Service to find your local children’s centre, get a registration form and a programme of activities
