Appleton Cricket Club
Cricket has been played at Appleton’s Lyons Lane ground since the early 1900’s. Appleton Cricket Club was formed in 1976 from an amalgamation of cricket teams from Radiation, a local works team, and Winwick, who formerly played in the grounds of the hospital. Appleton replaced Winwick in the Cheshire Cricket Association, fielding two league teams in the first and second divisions.
In 1996 the club secured the purchase of their ground with assistance from the National Lottery Grant Scheme, and in 2006 Appleton proudly opened their new Pavilion.
The club run teams for men, women, boys and girls. The club's facilities have also been used for county training/county disabled team training in recent seasons.
Additionally volunteers at the club are invited to The England and Wales Cricket Board Volunteer initiative once every year.
