AMPARO – support following suicide
The AMPARO service offers support to people bereaved or affected by a suspected suicide. AMPARO’s workers can offer a range of support following a suspected suicide, including:

  • One to one individual support
  • Help with any media enquiries
  • Practical support when dealing with the Police or Coroner
  • Help overcoming feelings of isolation
  • Putting you in touch with local services that can help

Help is at Hand
Help is at Hand is a booklet written by and for people bereaved by suicide. A site people might find helpful is Support After Suicide Partnership, this was set up to provide information and support to people bereaved or affected by suicide. The Help is at Hand booklet can be downloaded from the site, a copy of Help is at Hand, is also attached.

 

Warrington’s Happy? OK? Sad? website
More information about bereavement support and general mental health support can be found on www.happyoksad.org.uk. This is a mental health site for people who live or work in Warrington. The aims of the site are to make people aware of:

 

  • simple things they can do to look after their mental health
  • symptoms of common mental health problems
  • services that can offer information, advice, support or treatment
  • support available if someone can't cope and needs help right now
  • free mental health and wellbeing resources and training

Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS)
This is a national self-help organisation which offers confidential support to people over 18, who have been bereaved by suicide. Support is provided by volunteers through the helpline and by email. The helpline is open 9.00am-9.00pm every day, call 0300 111 5065. You can find more details about SOBS here.

 

Finding the Words

This booklet aims to help people better understand bereavement by suicide, so they can offer support to friends, colleagues and family members, who may have been bereaved in this way. A copy of Finding the Words is attached.

 

Suicide Prevention

Stay Alive app
The Stay Alive app is a free suicide prevention resource, which includes details of crisis support across Cheshire and Merseyside, in addition to national services. The app is for anyone who feels suicidal. It's also designed to be useful to anyone concerned about someone else’s suicidal thoughts. You can download the app free from the App Store or Google Play. More details about the app can be found on the Grassroots Suicide Prevention website.

 

New 24/7 Mental Health Crisis Line for Warrington
In April 2020, a new mental health crisis line was launched by North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The crisis line number 01925 275 309 is now the first port of call for local residents, experiencing a mental health crisis. People concerned that a family member or friend is experiencing a mental health crisis, can also ring the crisis line for advice. For more details click here.
