Lymm High School

Lymm High School Charter

Lymm High School was first granted a Royal Charter in 1601, and has a long and proud tradition of service to the community in the villages of Lymm, Grappenhall, Thelwall, High Legh and Little Bollington. The governing body, staff, parents and students have worked together to create this Charter, which sets out the enduring aims and principles which guide the school now and in the future.

1. Lymm High School exists to enable its students to enjoy learning, achieve their full potential and be successful. Through outstanding teaching and learning provision, we help them to become independent lifelong learners, confident and capable individuals, and socially responsible citizens and members of the community.

2. Lymm High School is committed to maintaining its status as a comprehensive school, serving the whole community, with no use of selection in its admission arrangements and policies.

3. Lymm High School has an established and valued partnership with nine local primary schools, and is committed to working closely with all its partner primary schools to provide an integrated education for students from 5 to 18. We will seek to provide admission arrangements which are fair and reflect the needs of the whole community we serve.

4. Lymm High School will provide a broad, balanced and appropriately challenging curriculum and an outstanding quality of teaching and learning which meets the needs of all students, responds to the development of the wider educational system of which we are part, and maximises the achievements and future opportunities of students.

5. Lymm High School is committed to serving the whole of the local community, to promoting extra-curricular activities and engagement and involvement between the school and local groups and organisations, and to encouraging the use of its facilities and services by the wider community. It works with the Lymm Grammar School Trust, the charity which owns Tyn y Felin on Anglesey, to maximise the value of this facility to school and the community as a whole.

6. Lymm High School values the contribution of all its staff, and is committed to supporting their professional and personal development and ensuring their wellbeing. We will employ all staff under terms and conditions that are fair and reflective of their individual roles and responsibilities, taking into consideration relevant national and local terms and conditions. We will consult staff on matters relating to their terms and conditions of employment, and recognise the role of trade unions and professional organisations.

7. Lymm High School will act as a careful and diligent steward of the public funding and other resources entrusted to it. The Governing Body will ensure that robust governance arrangements are in place to hold the school and its leadership to account, with strong financial controls and independent financial audit to ensure the financial strength and security of the school. The Governing Body and the Academy Trust will report on the progress of the School to its wider stakeholders and the community.
