Willow Green 19-25 Trust

It helps young people achieve their ambitions by offering them work skills/experience through Supported internships.

How does it work?

  • An internship placement is tailored to meet the needs of the young person.
  • Minimum of two days per week in a work placement including weekly supervised progress reviews between the intern, supervisor and placement officer.
  • A full programme of study one day per week at Willow Green featuring functional skills English and Math’s and City and Guilds employability certificate.
  • Boosts a young person’s C.V with a recognised work based reference.
  • Minimum of six months in work placement.

Case Studies

Philip Walker

Phil came onto the internship programme in September 2016 and has worked as a community coach/support workers with the Warrington Wolves foundation focusing on supporting young people with special education needs.

Phil has really enjoyed his Internship particular working with a diverse range of young people at Green Lane, Foxwood School and the Wolf club youth club.  He has also enjoyed introducing and leading Boccia sessions as part of his role as the sport is very inclusive and provides an opportunity for all to take part in and play sport.

Phil has really matured and embraced taking responsibility and leadership as part of his role.  Phil has now completed his internship and is continuing to volunteer working on the Wolves community programme and has now enrolled on a teaching assistant course at Riverside College and has found paid work in this area as a supply TA with an agency while he is still studying for his qualification.

Rory Hutton

Rory came onto the Internship programme in June 2016 to develop skills in his dream career as a waiter in a restaurant/café style environment.  Rory was placed in Rhode Island café and developed his skills in hygiene, customer service, stock rotation, working as part of a team, and processing and serving customer orders as part of his set role.

During his time on the Internship Rory’s self-confidence and communication improved significantly through his work with customers in a busy environment.  Rory has now completed his internship and is currently continuing his development working in New Town House youth café studying a City and Guilds qualification in customer service, as part of his work serving customers from the council and partners using the café.
