Ignite Play and Creative Arts Therapy

Ignite Play Therapy is based in Warrington and the wider area.

Play is a child's natural language, and their way of expressing themselves. Play Therapy helps children to process and 'play out' their thoughts, feelings and experiences in a safe child-led way with a qualified therapist.

Play therapy helps children in a variety of ways: children are given emotional support, and a safe space to explore their challenging feelings. They use the equipment in the playroom to help make sense of their experiences. The sessions help children to make new choices, and practice strategies in the room before using them in their lives outside the sessions.

I work directly with children using play and the creative arts to help them explore their feelings without the need for words in a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic environment. This includes sand, games, musical instruments, puppets, dance/movement equipment, clay/dough and creative arts materials. Play Therapy sessions are child-led and aim to help children reach their potential and improve mental well-being.

Play and Creative Arts Therapy can help children affected by a variety of challenging situations, including:

family change or breakdown
anxiety, stress
attendance issues or at risk of exclusion
traumatic life experiences
disability or additional needs, including ADHD, autism
attachment issues
adoption/fostering

bereavement

low self esteem, and many more.

Where to go

Notes: Sessions can take place at your child's school, with the permission of the headteacher - at the same time each week, or at home if appropriate.
