The Lyneal Trust
The Lyneal Trust is a registered charity that provides canal and canalside holidays for people with disabilities, illness or injury, or any other vulnerability and their family, friends and carers who may accompany them.
Based at Lyneal Wharf in beautiful Shropshire the Trust owns and maintains two canal boats, the Shropshire Lass II and Shropshire Lad, and Wharf Cottage and Chalets which are all specially designed for people with disabilities.
All our facilities can be hired separately or in combinations.
The Lyneal Trust is run by a group of willing volunteers, many of whom give their time meeting and greeting holiday makers and skippering day trips on the Shropshire Lad.
The Lyneal Trust is a Shropshire Council supported Charity.
Winners of the Queens Award for Voluntary Service 2008
The Shropshire Lad is a 45 foot canal boat designed for day trips for up to 12 people. Both boats have a ramp, hydraulic lift and hydraulic steering, in addition to the conventional tiller, which allow wheelchair users to take part in the running of the boats. Wheelchair users are able to access all parts of the boats. They have been designed to take wheelchairs up to a maximum width of 26” – the standard size for wheelchairs.
